You’ll be a good fit if…
You're a self-driven craftsman with keen attention to detail who knows the web inside and out. You know what works, what doesn’t work, and what’s worth trying. You know how to take complex workflows and distill them down to simple, easy-to-use interfaces. Critical discussion about design, whether it's your work or that of your colleagues, is always fun to you because you believe that ideas improve when tested.

Responsibilities:
You'll work with Product Management and Engineering teams to create smart, powerful, efficient software that delights our users. We are looking for a talented designer who is a great communicator and problem solver with excellent design instincts, but who knows how visual UI design should enhance the experience. You’ll analyze requirements, create wireframes and mockups to lead discussions, and then refine designs to provide the necessary handoffs with Engineering to accelerate getting new features to the market.
Also ...

- Create interaction models, task flows, screen designs, and UI details that help you communicate your design solutions and support design decisions.
- Collaborate with other designers as needed and work independently to see a project through.
- Negotiate and articulate the "why" of design decisions. You'll need to convince, disagree confidently, and give/take straightforward criticism.
- Contribute to the curation of design standards for our product and help build out the product Design Pattern Library.
- Strike a balance between quality and speed-to-market, always connecting the dots between business needs, innovation, and good design.
- Work with Engineering to guide final implementation of design concepts.

- Knowledge of technology advantages and limitations required (i.e. JavaScript, CSS, HTML).
- Proven track record and a passion for designing compelling user experiences within an agile development environment.
- Strong visual design skills, including an eye for good typography, composition, color usage, layout, and hierarchy.
- Have a heightened sense of user empathy, an obsession with user-centered design practices, and fanatic attention to detail.
- Mastery of Sketch. We may transition to another tool in the future, but for now, we exclusively use Sketch for our product design projects. Animation and interaction flow is a plus (e.g. Principal app).
- Experience with various prototyping methods. Expert knowledge of best practices and a solid grasp of applying the appropriate level of fidelity depending on project requirements, scope, etc.
- Ability to evaluate various factors that impact project priority and organize your work schedule for optimization and efficiency; communicate progress and expected milestones.
- Ability and willingness to mentor other designers and elevate the design understanding of non-design colleagues.
- Experience working with cross-functional teams in a blended remote/co-located environment across multiple time zones.
