Electronics Engineer
About us
Aether Biomedical is a medical robotics company focused on bio signal processing and bionic limbs for upper limb amputees. We are a growing team aiming to make a big impact on a bionic prosthesis market. We are growing fast, and so we are looking for new people that will help us to bring our products to the market.
Requirements
3+ years of commercial experience in electronics design, including schematic capture and PCB layout.
Proficiency in Altium Designer or similar program (schematic, multilayer PCB layout, library management, design rules).
Solid understanding of analog and digital circuit design, including power supplies, signal conditioning, and microcontroller peripherals.
Experience designing mixed-signal PCBs, including motor control, low-noise analog, and proper grounding/decoupling techniques.
Hands-on experience bringing up prototypes — soldering, rework, and debugging hardware issues on the bench.
Strong knowledge of laboratory equipment (oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, power supplies, function generators, multimeters, spectrum analyzers, etc.).
Experience working with contract manufacturers and transferring designs to production (design for manufacturing, design for assembly, generation of fabrication and assembly outputs, BOM management).
Familiarity with embedded communication interfaces (SPI, I2C, UART, USB, etc.) and sensor integration from the hardware side.
Fluent spoken and written English (we work in an international environment on a daily basis).
Problem-solving approach and ability to work closely with firmware, mechanical, and quality teams.
Nice to have
Bachelor's or Master's Degree (or equivalent) in Electronics, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or related.
Practical experience with development of medical devices according to standards (IEC 60601-1, ISO 13485, IEC 62304, IEC 60601-1-2, ISO 14971, etc.) would be a distinct advantage.
Experience preparing devices for and participating in EMC testing (pre-compliance and full compliance), as well as interpreting results and implementing design fixes.
Experience with analogue front-ends and bio human-machine interfaces (e.g. EMG, ECG, EEG).
Experience designing electronics for battery-powered, compact, wearable, or portable devices.
Knowledge of DC motor control circuits and motor driver integration.
Familiarity with version control for hardware projects (Git) and PLM/ECAD library management.
Basic scripting skills (Python, Bash) for automating bench tests and data analysis.
Basic C/C++ programming for prototype bringup
Responsibilities
Designing schematics and multilayer PCBs in Altium Designer for cutting edge medical device solutions in the prosthetic market, including Zeus bionic hand.
Component selection, BOM management, and maintenance of internal component libraries.
Bringing up prototypes — board verification, debugging, and characterization in cooperation with the embedded software team.
Transferring designs to production — preparing manufacturing documentation, working with contract manufacturers, and supporting first article inspection and pilot runs.
Participation in EMC testing (pre-compliance and certification), root-causing issues, and implementing corrective design changes.
Multi-disciplinary cooperation with embedded, mechanical, and quality engineers leading to creation and maintenance of world-class prosthetic solutions.
Development of hardware according to medical device standards, including design history file documentation and risk analysis.
Participation in the full lifecycle of a medical device from Requirements, Specification, Design, Risk Management, V&V and Market Deployment and sustaining.
