Senior Cost Estimation Engineer

Are you interested in contributing to the reduction of global CO2 emissions and working at the forefront of developing technical solutions within power-to-X, green chemicals, renewable chemicals, and e-fuels?
We are looking for a Senior cost estimation engineer who will be working in a multidisciplinary engineering team, responsible for the cost estimation of the development and improvements of green methanol production facilities, based on licensed CO2-to-methanol technology. The person will participate in various international projects, throughout all phases of the projects, from feasibility study to plant operation.
Responsibilities and tasks:
· Develop Cost Estimates: Prepare comprehensive cost estimates for green methanol projects, throughout all project development phases, from feasibility to final investment decision. Cost estimates to cover all plant systems and cost items, such as labour, materials, equipment, and subcontractors.
· Establish cost estimation methods: Develop and implement standardized cost estimation methodologies and guidelines to ensure consistency and accuracy across all projects. Considering a variety of estimation techniques.
· Maintain Cost Databases: Keep cost databases (Cleopatra) and estimation tools updated for accuracy and efficiency, documenting methodologies and data sources.
· Develop a detailed cost breakdown structure to systematically organize and categorize all project costs.
· Analyze Project Documentation: Review and interpret project specifications, proposals, P&IDs, PFDs, blueprints, and other technical documents to inform cost estimations.
· Align with Budgets: Collaborate with project managers and financial teams to ensure cost estimates align with budget constraints and financial objectives.
· Assess and Mitigate Risks: Identify potential cost risks and develop mitigation strategies, conducting sensitivity analyses to evaluate impact.
· Collaborate with Teams: Work closely with engineering and procurement, as well as suppliers and subcontractors, to gather necessary cost information.
· Report and Present Findings: Prepare and present detailed cost reports and forecasts to senior management and stakeholders, ensuring clear communication of complex information.
· Improve Processes and Mentor Team: Recommend and implement process improvements, stay updated with industry trends, and provide mentorship and training to junior estimators and team members.
Requirements:
· B.Sc. or M.Sc. in chemical engineering, mechanical engineering, construction management, finance, or other relevant subjects.
· Minimum 5 years experience in cost estimation within the chemical engineering industry, oil and gas, or other closely related field.
· Proficiency in cost estimation software and advanced Excel skills.
· Strong understanding of cost estimation methodologies and best practices, including parametric, analogous, and bottom-up estimating techniques.
· Knowledge of industry standards, codes, and regulations relevant to the chemical engineering sector.
· Ability to work effectively in a team environment and provide mentorship and training to other team members.
· Strong problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to identifying and addressing potential cost risks and issues.
· High degree of accuracy and thoroughness in all cost estimation and documentation aspects.
· Excellent written & verbal English skills.
