Role/Team Overview:
Valuation Control Group (VCG) Intermediate Analyst in the FX and Local Markets (FX/LM) EMEA team.
FX/LM VCG responsibilities will include oversight and management of valuation control responsibilities for the Global FX, LM Rates Trading and Local Markets Treasury businesses.
VCG is a cornerstone of the Controllers Organization. The function is organized into product-aligned teams including a dedicated Price Verification team. The product scope is comprehensive and includes a full range of security and derivative products.
Key responsibilities of VCG are to perform the independent price verification for Citi’s financial inventory, create valuation adjustments, perform fair-value levelling and evaluate the valuation implications of new trade activity.
VCG has a matrix organization with global business-aligned teams as well as a regional/local structure, which spans across businesses.
Key Responsibilities:
- Responsible for valuation control related production, such as Independent Price Verification, Valuation Adjustments and Fair Value Hierarchy results
- Responsible for timely reporting and communication of results and significant matters to stakeholders and the EMEA and Global Head of FXLM VCG
- Relationship management across other functions within Finance (Product Control, Accounting Policy, Local Finance) and the Front Office (Market Risk, Trading/Business Managers, Model Risk, Quants etc)
- Relationship management and development across other peers within FXLM and across other asset classes to ensure consistency of processes and controls
Development Value:
- Develop in-depth product knowledge for the types of trades in FX/LM asset classes, the market data and models used to value those products and their associated risks.
- Develop understanding of observability of market data for FVH and day1 review as well as potential hedging strategies used by the desk for calculation of bid-offer and liquidity adjustments.
- Build relationships with other key stakeholders across Citi
Skills and Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in any finance, accounting or quantitative related subject
- 2-5 years of finance-related experience, ideally in a valuation, product control, financial control or a related discipline.
- Familiarity with financial products and valuation principles would be a strong plus.
- Advanced Excel skills.
- Strong analytical skills; High volume data analysis background would be a plus.
- Understanding of financial statements and basic accounting concepts.
- Fluent English with strong verbal and written communication skills at minimum B2 level.
