Senior Product Designer @ Defguard
Help make secure, compliant network access and identity management effortless.
About Defguard
Defguard is an open-source enterprise security solution - the first in the world to support WireGuard VPN Multi-Factor authentication on the protocol level.
We're an early-stage (pre-seed) startup with a senior, security‑first engineering culture.
We're shipping quickly, working closely with real users, and defining the product experience that will shape how organisations secure private networks in a world that’s increasingly distributed and regulated.
The Role
We’re hiring a Senior Product Designer to own the holistic design language of Defguard. You’ll lead product UX across our secure access surfaces (admin console, device enrollment & provisioning, and cross‑platform desktop/mobile clients) and extend that same language across all outward‑facing touchpoints: our website, marketing and sales materials, documentation assets, brandbook, and product design guidelines.
In practice, you’ll be the steward of every visual and interaction detail - layout, flows, typography, colour, iconography, motion, states, accessibility, and fidelity to a security‑first story - ensuring coherence from first marketing impression to daily admin workflows.
Join a small, senior, security‑first team where design has real influence on the roadmap, usability, and adoption.
What You'll Do
Own the holistic design language for Defguard across in‑product UI and external touchpoints (website, docs, marketing/sales assets) so brand, security story, and UX stay in sync.
Lead UX for the control plane (admin console) used by IT/Security/DevOps admins; prioritise clarity, security posture, and operational efficiency.
Design secure, low‑friction device enrollment & provisioning flows that scale from small teams to large, distributed orgs.
Shape and refine the cross‑platform end‑user client experience (desktop & mobile) that brings WireGuard‑powered connectivity to life.
Build and evolve a lightweight, token‑driven design system in Figma; partner with engineering for robust implementation across codebases.
Create and maintain the brandbook + product design guidelines (typography, colour, iconography, motion, states, accessibility, security cues) that guide product, engineering, and go‑to‑market teams.
Design, update, and QA the public website and campaign/marketing materials; produce production‑ready visual assets (SVGs, screenshots, diagrams, slideware).
Steward all visual details in shipped experiences—layout grids, responsive behaviour, data visualisation, state clarity—and review builds for fidelity, accessibility, and consistency; track and reduce visual design debt across platforms.
Run pragmatic user research & usability testing with both admin and end‑user audiences; synthesise findings into rapid iteration.
Ship fast: sketch → prototype → test → iterate → handoff, balancing speed with security and user trust.
What You’ll Bring (Must-Haves)
5+ years of product design experience (senior-level craft + judgment).
A portfolio showing complex B2B/admin systems—ideally with deep UX, flows, and problem framing.
Experience designing for technical users (IT, Security, DevOps, infra, or adjacent). Security/devtools background strongly preferred.
Figma proficiency and ability to produce clickable prototypes (tooling flexible).
Professional English & Polish (written & spoken) for cross-functional collaboration.
Comfort working in an early-stage startup: low ego, fast shipping, hands-on with research & UI.
Bonus Points
(Not required—but tell us if you’ve got them.)
Worked closely with security & infrastructure engineers.
Designed self-hosted / on‑prem admin products.
Light front-end literacy (React, HTML/CSS, or ability to inspect components).
Compensation & Contract
16k–20k PLN + VAT / month (B2B).
Equity participation is available (ESOP program)
20 days paid time off (B2B).
