About the role:

Health and Safety Advisor will support the business in providing safe workplaces, navigate various regional workplace laws, and become the go-to person for safety advice within the EMEA region. The EMEA region consists of some 55 markets, with plans for this to continue to grow.

Working with the Regional Senior Security Manager and the wider Global Security and Safety team, this role provides advice and solutions that mitigate operational, strategic, and tactical health and safety risks both within offices and warehouses. This role also has the opportunity to support regional events in managing health and safety risks.

This is a key role within the business and requires the candidate to have a working knowledge of best practice relating to health and safety in Europe; you should understand key legislation and be able to quickly research and understand other related legislations and changes. You will then be able to utilise this knowledge to develop appropriate procedures, provide advice and guidance, enable the business to meet its legal requirements, and provide training and support to staff.


In this role you will:

  • Provide safety leadership to the Region
  • Update, maintain and refresh regional network of health and safety consultants where needed, including reassessing their appropriateness
  • Complete risk assessments and/or provide training and review all risk assessments for sites across the region
  • Develop, implement, and maintain Global Security and Safety programs, policies, and Standard Operation Procedures (SOPs) within the region, including (but not limited to) workplace safety, emergency procedures, fire prevention and Display Screen Equipment
  • Conduct an audit of safety practices and gaps in legal responsibility and create an action plan of how to bridge these gaps
  • Set KPIs, provide regular updates and complete reports on the status and progress of H&S across the region
  • Audit and monitor compliance, including travelling to key sites to conduct audits
  • Create and deliver appropriate safety related training, and keep a log of all safety training delivered, including identifying possible external training requirements
  • Maintain a database of risk assessments, audits and training
  • Investigate workplace incidents, accidents and near misses
  • Maintain a database of all incidents and provide metric-based reports
  • Maintain awareness of changes to regional legislation and provide expert solutions on how to meet legal responsibilities
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in addition to effective public speaking abilities to provide executive summaries, relevant presentations, and training
  • Budget / results accountability for assigned projects, programs and initiatives
  • Manage service contracts and vendors as applicable
  • Other strategic initiatives / projects as assigned by the Senior Manager, Regional Security (EMEA & India) and Senior Director of Global Security


Our Requirements:

  • At least 5 years’ experience in a safety role
  • Experience implementing safety management programmes, including developing programmes from the ground-up
  • Experience of managing H&S for multiple sites
  • Preference for managing H&S for both office environments as well as warehouses
  • Evidence of creating an engaging and user-friendly health and safety culture
  • Designing and delivering training, both face-to-face and virtually
  • Ideally possessing knowledge of how H&S legislation and practice relates to large/mass events, ideally with knowledge of BS9999 or similar legislat
  • Individual worker and self-starter who is also able to work with a globally dispersed Global Security and Safety team
  • Can design and deliver engaging H&S focussed training, both in person and online
  • Ability to complete comprehensive risk assessments with ease
  • Strong working knowledge of different fire safety legislations
  • Ability to conduct investigations
  • Risk mindset – able to easily identify risks and come up with sensible plans to mitigate them
  • Formal qualification in Health and Safety Management or similar
  • Proficient in the English language
  • Proficient in using Microsoft package, including Outlook, Word, Excel
  • ISOH qualification
  • NEBOSH Qualified or NEBOSH Diploma
  • Achieved or working towards Health and Safety Diploma Level 5 or similar
  • Ability to build relationships with Regional business leaders
  • Ability to collaborate with other service functions (HR, Finance, Legal, Facilities)
  • Ability to work with a global team
  • Act with integrity while implementing Global Security’s vision and direction
