Controls Assurance (CA) reports into RCAS and is responsible for assuring the risk management of critical business processes and specified non-financial and financial risks across the Group, principally by testing mitigating controls. This is achieved by building out a centralised offshore capability that will deliver agile, insightful, and cost-efficient assurance. Also, CA works together with the RCAS Automation and Analytics team to develop, test and deploy their Continuous Assurance objectives. 

CA is principally comprised of Control Testing teams executing this assurance work. These teams are principally based in Global Service Centres within India, China and Poland, and are staffed with assurance specialists with expertise across the range of risks being covered.

The role holder will be required to support Controls Assurance in Issue Closure Management (ICM) and will assist the Head of Controls Assurance, Poland in various tasks relating to managing CA department. 


What you’ll do


  • Monitor the accurate, efficient, and timely closure of open issues and actions and track exceptions related to due, overdue and closed issues and actions for RCAS reviews. 
  • Maintain ICM procedures and templates, in collaboration with Professional Practices (PP), ensuring high operating standards within the division.
  • Reconcile issue and actions records in internal systems and prepare monthly reports.
  • Design and deliver ICM training to the global CA Team.
  • Manage induction process for New Joiners including maintenance of onboarding guides.
  • Assist Department Head in tasks relating to team administration and entity management.
  • Manage access to RCAS SharePoint folder, ShareDrive, team mailbox, internal systems of records.
  • Maintain SharePoints, ShareDrives and CA distribution lists.
  • Any other tasks assigned by Department Head.


What you need to have to succeed in this role


  • Minimum of 3 years proven professional experience, knowledge of assurance, audit, compliance, or risk management within financial services will be an asset.
  • Understanding of Resilience Credit, Models, Compliance, and/or the aptitude to develop this understanding in good time.
  • Bachelor’s degree in related field such as business, finance, law or equivalent experience.
  • Proven ability to multi-task and working independently under pressure to tight deadlines in a challenging and fluid environment.
  • Experience delivering trainings, professional reports and presentations gained within a financial services organisation.
  • Awareness of good risk management and governance frameworks including 3 lines of defence criteria.
  • Good working knowledge of MS Excel.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively and to engage with HSBC staff within the functions.
  • Ability to foster relationships whilst providing adequate challenge and effecting change.
  • Experience utilising assurance automation and analytics tools preferred.
  • Fluent in both oral and written English.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office.
