Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) is a new function, bringing together Operational & Resilience Risk (ORR) and parts of Risk Strategy and Macroeconomic Risk. It is a combined Risk Stewardship and Oversight sub-function within Global Risk and Compliance which aims at supporting the integration of the Group Framework and Appetite Management and providing broad oversight of our Non-Financial Risk Taxonomy. Our purpose is to make sure HSBC understands and is in control of its non-financial risk position, and we create robust governance, processes and procedures that ensure effective management of the function.
The role is located in Krakow and has global reach. The jobholder is required to work in an environment of significant ambiguity with autonomy, dealing with major issues for which there is no clear solution whilst still being able to provide judgment and clear direction. The jobholder is expected to demonstrate a high level of technical and non-financial risk expertise.
The role will be responsible for the provisioning of subject matter expertise to support Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) Leadership Team (LT) and ERM Assurance teams discharge their responsibilities in relation to operational risk and resilience risk steward delivery across all service areas, delivery of assurance activities, embedding of assurance practices and embedding of stewardship activities and service catalogue in respective GB/GF/Specialist team.
What you’ll do
- Providing subject matter expertise to ERM LT Member and their teams on assurance practices and support the development and embedding of practices across the team.
- Provide prioritization, co-ordination, reporting, and escalation of work performed by Risk and Compliance Assurance and support development and delivery of test scripts where required. Provide ongoing direction, challenge of review terms of reference and reports and, provide quality assurance to ERM LT member of the controls assurance work delivered.
- Develop and manage stakeholder relationships with ERM and Business stakeholders.
- Identify thematic reviews based on internal and external observations, trends emerging, or stakeholder requests and support leading, and delivery of Thematic Assurance as required.
- Support embedding of assurance practices service catalogue and supporting tools across GB/GF/Region/Specialist team.
- Support consistent and insightful reporting and escalation of issues identified through ERM Second Line of Defence opinion papers.
- Direct the development of ongoing training and induction programmes to ensure that the teams are appropriately skilled and technical knowledge of appropriate regulation, responsibilities, and testing tools and techniques is up to date.
- Drive effective teamwork, engagement and collaboration across ERM teams.
What you need to have to succeed in this role
- Demonstrable experience of assurance / audit activities and techniques, or 2LOD stewardship for one or more of the ORR risk types.
- Deep understanding of Risk Management Framework and Non-Financial Risks, including sound understanding / knowledge of Operational & Resilience Risk.
- Relevant external financial services qualification (e.g. CIA, CPA, ACA, ACCA, CISA).
- Experience of process mapping and delivering professional reports and presentations gained within a financial services organisation or audit/consulting practice.
- Ability to foster relationships whilst providing adequate challenge and effecting change.
- Experience utilising assurance automation and analytics tools preferred.
- Fluent in both oral and written English.
