Head of Risk - FX/ CFD Liquidity Management

Job description:

As the Head of Risk, you will be responsible for overseeing the entire risk management strategy of our liquidity business. You will play a key role in ensuring profitability, monitoring client activities, and mitigating risks associated with FX/ CFD trading. Your responsibilities will include:

• Controlling the overall profitability and stability of our liquidity business;
• Monitoring client trades to identify irregularities and ensuring proper market conduct;
• Investigating potential market abuses and implementing corrective measures;
• Developing and calculating risk metrics to ensure proper risk assessment and control;
• Setting up and maintaining a risk policy, defining the risk approach and appetite;
• Collaborating closely with the trading department to align risk management with trading operations;
• Engaging with clients to understand their risk profiles and business needs, helping both sides to find a common ground for cooperation.

Key responsibilities:

• Profitability control: maintain profitability by analyzing trading results and implementing effective risk measures;
• Optimize risk - adjusted returns: adjusting allocations, diversifying exposures, and implementing hedging strategies;
• Client monitoring: oversee client deals, conduct risk assessments,control over exposure limits and investigate potential signs of market abuse;
• Risk metrics calculation: measure risk using quantitative metrics such as value at risk, expected shortfall, stress testing, and scenario analysis;
• Policy development: develop and enforce risk policies, aligning with both internal and regulatory standards;
• Collaboration: work closely with the trading team and provide insights to ensure optimal trade execution and risk mitigation;
• Client liaison: engage with key clients to understand their specific requirements and support them in managing trading risks.

Requirements:

1. Education: bachelor's or master's degree in Economics, Finance, Mathematics, Data Science, or a related field.

2. Experience:

• minimum of 5 years of experience in financial institutions, preferably in trading or risk management roles,
• direct experience with FX/ CFD trading environments or a proven ability to learn these instruments rapidly.

3. Technical skills:

• strong understanding of risk management techniques and metrics,
• proficiency in data analysis tools (e.g., SQL, Python, R) and financial modeling,
• technical & analytical mindset with a basic understanding of trading systems, data warehouse and financial technologies.

4. Analytical skills: strong quantitative analysis skills with the ability to interpret complex data sets.

5. Language skills:

• English: C - level,
• Polish: C - level.

6. Interpersonal skills: excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with an ability to explain technical concepts to non - technical stakeholders.

7. Problem - solving: ability to identify issues, think critically, and implement solutions effectively.

8. Leadership skills: you will lead a team of data - scientists, so we will require from you to manage it effectively and provide strong guidance. 

9. Team player: experience working in a collaborative environment with multiple stakeholders (trading, UBOs, compliance, and clients).
