Internal Auditor
The Internal Auditor is a member of the Group Function Internal Audit and Compliance (GFIAC). GFIAC has global responsibility for internal audits within the Skanska Group, conducting audits of construction projects and processes, both compliance and risk based. The audits are a combination of financial and operational areas. The team consists of 12 employees located in 6 countries, led by the Senior Vice President for Internal Audit & Compliance who reports to the Chairman of the Audit Committee of Skanska AB’s Board of Directors. This position will entail travel (40-50%) mainly across Central Europe (Poland, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Romania, Hungary), and to United Kingdom and other Skanska offices, with majority of travel in Poland. The position will be based in Warsaw.
What will you be doing:
- Conducting audits of projects and processes in line with the audit plan together with other internal audit staff or individually
- Conducting interviews with project teams and process owners to gain an understanding of a project or process
- Completing verification and testing work
- Analyzing results and making appropriate conclusions
- Writing and producing a concise and accurate audit report
- Communicating the audit findings and recommendations to the project team and to the business unit management
- Ensuring management action plans are adequate and completed

- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Accounting, Finance, Business required
- At least 4 years of experience in project operations or finance/auditing/compliance/risk
- Experience from construction is an advantage – understanding of the business and/or project execution, project controls and how a project operates is a strong plus
- Strong interpersonal skills, ability to interview project staff and manage an audit meeting
- Strong analytical and writing skills
- Ability to discuss adverse issues and findings with project teams and management
- Ability to understand and analyze project issues, level of risk and draw conclusion, make judgement on the importance of issues
- Ability to prioritize, handle multiple assignments and work under time constraints
- Ability to build trust and maintain positive working relationships with Business Unit senior leadership and project management executives while remaining objective and independent.
- A high level of personal integrity, act and operate independently with minimal direction.
- Willingness to travel – travel will be approximately 40-50% of time
- Polish language at profficency level and English language, Czech language is an advantage
- Understanding of International Financing Reporting Standards (IFRS) is a plus
