Our client specializes in providing a wide range of medical equipment and technology solutions. They offer products and services related to medical imaging, laboratory diagnostics, healthcare information technology, and clinical consulting. Their portfolio encompasses cutting-edge medical devices, software, and infrastructure that support healthcare providers in diagnosing and treating patients effectively and efficiently.

We are looking for a Database Administrator - DBA to join a numerous international distributed team of Infrastructure Specialists.

This is a new role - the team is constantly expanding due to the constant growth of the organization.


Requirements


  • A minimum of 4 years of experience in the role of a Database Administrator is required.
  • A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field is necessary.
  • Familiarity with cloud computing technologies, specifically Azure, is considered advantageous.
  • Possession of relevant industry certifications, such as the Microsoft Certified Database Administrator, is a positive factor.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills are essential for effective collaboration with diverse teams and for conveying technical information to non-technical stakeholders.


Technical Qualifications:


  • a. Demonstrated proficiency in the administration of MS SQL Server databases, including tasks like performance enhancement, security, and backup and recovery.
  • b. Competency in managing cloud-based database technologies like Microsoft Azure SQL Database, CosmosDB, or Amazon RDS, encompassing deployment, setup, and performance optimization.
  • c. Familiarity with Oracle database administration, covering areas like installation, configuration, performance enhancement, and backup and recovery.
  • d. A strong grasp of fundamental database concepts, SQL, and methods for optimizing queries.
  • e. A good understanding of principles and best practices related to database security.
  • f. Experience in using database monitoring tools and conducting performance analysis.
  • g. Proficiency in problem-solving and analytical skills, enabling the resolution of complex database issues.
  • h. Exceptional documentation and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in business-level English is required to interact and communicate with colleagues in an international setting.
  • Flexibility for occasional business trips is expected.


Responsibilities


1. Database Support:

- Provide assistance and management for MS SQL Server, Cloud, and Oracle databases.

- Diagnose and resolve database-related incidents, including performance issues, connectivity problems, and data inconsistencies.

2. Database Performance Optimization:

- Monitor and enhance database performance by analyzing query execution plans, index utilization, database statistics, and other performance metrics.

- Identify and address bottlenecks and performance challenges to ensure optimal database response times.

3. Database Security:

- Establish and enforce security protocols to safeguard the organization's databases against unauthorized access, data breaches, and data loss.

- Configure user access permissions, roles, and privileges, adhering to the principle of least privilege.

4. Database Backup and Restoration:

- Develop and manage backup and recovery strategies to ensure the reliability and accessibility of the organization's data.

- Execute regular backups, test restoration procedures, and implement disaster recovery plans to minimize data loss and downtime.

5. Database Monitoring and Upkeep:

- Continuously monitor database health, availability, and capacity to proactively detect and resolve potential issues.

- Conduct routine maintenance tasks such as database reorganization, index reconstruction, and updates to database statistics.

6. Database Documentation:

- Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for database configurations, schemas, procedures, and workflows.

- Document changes to the database and keep data dictionaries updated to ensure the accuracy and clarity of database-related information.

7. Database Upgrades and Patch Management:

- Strategically plan and execute upgrades of database software and apply patches to ensure that the database systems are current with the latest security enhancements and performance improvements.

- Coordinate with system administrators and vendors to facilitate a seamless upgrade process.
