Your career opportunity

Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) is a sub function of the Global Risk function within HSBC. Its purpose is to make sure HSBC embeds and operates in line with the Risk Management Function. In addition, the function acts as the Second Line of Defence that provides oversight and challenge of resilience risk (including Change Execution) to the Regional Business and Functions.


Main Duties

  • Oversight of Risk and Control Assessments and opining on the control environment of the First Line of Defence (FLOD) within our Businesses and Regions.
  • Constructive challenge to the businesses and functions on their control environment and assessment of risk.
  • Oversight of emerging risks, strategic business initiatives and local change activity and new/materially changed products.
  • Analysis of risk exposure across all bank operations and territories to inform capital management and stress testing requirements.
  • Completing thematic reviews and aggregated reporting of the Non-Financial Risk profile of the bank.
  • Responsibility for assessing FLOD implementation of a the Risk Management Framework (RMF) that sets out governance, policies and practices to proactively identify, assess, measure and report on, mitigate and control operational risk exposures associated with HSBC’s businesses and operations at all levels of the organisation.


This role is responsible for working with key transformation and business stakeholders within Europe to provide advice and Second Line of Defence (SLOD) challenge on:

  • Change Execution Risk and Control Assessments.
  • Adoption of the Change Framework to support First Line of Defence:
  • deliver portfolio and initiative outcomes and benefits;
  • manage Non-Financial Risks on material transformation programmes;
  • Transition Change into Business As Usual.
  • Resilience Risks (e.g. Third Party, Manual Transaction Processing, Cyber, Data, and Technology risk) identified on material transformation programmes to ensure that they are managed, understood by and escalated to appropriate governance forums for appropriate and timely resolution.
  • Understanding of emerging risks that require changes to controls, resources and business operations to ensure they remain within appetite


Requirements:

  • Ability to influence at the senior levels of the organisation.
  • Experience in working on Change Programmes and assessing Non-Financial risks.
  • Understanding of the Risk Management Frameworks and Resilience Risks (e.g. Information, Technology and Cyber, Transaction Processing, Third Party).
  • Ability to communicate effectively, building strong relationships and influence senior internal and external stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of the external environment (threat, regulatory, geopolitical, competitor, technological landscapes).
  • A change agent who challenges the status quo constructively and positively, leading relevant strategies that enable safe growth of HSBC.
  • Proven track record in delivering on time, to budget and to a high level of quality.
  • Professional qualifications may be advantageous (e.g. Project Management - Prince 2, Technology or Cyber Related - CISA or CISM).
