This role is responsible for helping the Global Procurement function make better decisions and drive mission critical business outcomes through unlocking business insights from data; this is typically through building visualisations, insights, self-service analytics and high-quality reusable data assets.

Our team provides analytics that help answer interesting and challenging mission critical questions:

• How much does HSBC spend on a yearly basis? Who are our top Suppliers?
• How do we drive efficiency in our supply chain? How do we partner with our suppliers to drive towards net-zero? How do we more effectively manage supply chain risk and horizon scan?

What you’ll do

• Work with business, data and IT stakeholders to understand their needs and translate them into clear data requirements.
• Develop data structures and pipelines to organize, collect, cleanse, and standardize data in order to generate actionable insights and address reporting needs. Using data mining techniques to extract information from data sets and identify correlations and patterns.
• Create and maintain technical data dictionaries of systems supporting various business dashboards.
• Work with Central Data Stewards to identify and agree data quality rules and integrate into the enterprise data catalogue, as well as implement process, training and system changes.
• Create/Manage and own data quality dashboards allowing analytics teams to see any issues with incoming data and alert the business where needed.
• Identify the root cause of Data Quality issues through targeted data analysis.
• Create high-quality documentation, detailing data lineage, transformation rules, data sources and business processes used in delivering analysis.

What you need to have to succeed in this role

• A university degree in Computer Science, Physics, Mathematics, Quantitative Methods or similar education and work experience.
• Minimum of 5 years’ experience delivering data quality/ data analytics solutions using Agile with clearly demonstrable business outcomes.
• Exceptional analytical skills with a strong understanding of the power and value of data with an ability to apply technology solutions to meet business needs and solve problems.
• Demonstrable experience of working in a data integration-related role, ETL processes and data warehousing principles.
• Proven experience on Data Quality and/or Data Governance.
• Expertise in SQL/Big Query.
• Hands-on experience with at least one of the reporting tool – Qlik/Tableau/Power BI
• Familiarity with Data Science concepts and subjects and an interest in up-skilling in the future
