Your Impact:

Jacobs are recruiting for a Senior Project Manager to join our Poland Clean Energy Nuclear New Build team. The team supports our key client PEJ Sp z.o.o (PEJ) which is the state-owned entity that is responsible for the delivery of the first nuclear new build programme in Poland. This is a key role within our rapidly growing Project Management team based in Warsaw supporting our client, and this role will support potentially several projects within their PEJ EJ1 new build project through the entire project development and delivery lifecycle.


Key Accountabilities:

Senior Project Managers are accountable to the Jacobs Technical Delivery Director for the successful delivery of all aspects of their assigned projects. The Senior Project Manager will be responsible for managing allocated work from assignment and scope development working collaboratively with the client team, to close out covering all duties related to work delivery, in order to ensure that the work is conducted in a safe, timely and effective manner to its conclusion. This role is a project leadership position and will have direct reports and line management responsibilities.

The role will be based at the Jacobs and PEJ Warsaw offices in Poland, with a minimum expected working time required in Poland of 50%, with preferably 75% of working time spent in Warsaw. Additionally, this role will require from time to time, business travel to other parts of Poland, mainland Europe, UK and potentially USA. Flexible working arrangements between office and home are possible.

In this role you may be directly responsible for leading several medium or large value projects and report to the Jacobs Technical Delivery Director. Additionally, you will be accountable for project delivery directly to the client for projects assigned to you.

Everyone working in our team will have a proven track record of working within highly regulated environments with high safety standards and culture. Experience delivering projects in a nuclear environment (nuclear new build or nuclear power plant operations) is preferred but not essential.

Strong communication and organisational skills are a must with the ability to develop relationships and maintain effective networks and be results-focused tempered with a team-centred approach.


Scope of duties:

  • Facilitate, run and chair project meetings (including regular progress meetings) as required
  • Prepare and maintain project documentation including Project scope document, Quality Plans, risk and change registers, contract early warning and change control, and other documents as required
  • Prepare service authorisations and technical specifications and support the process of contractor selection and contract placement
  • Review and, where delegated by the Project, approve project documentation including contractor’s project documentation where applicable
  • Carry out financial and technical appraisals of project options. Where required, lead/perform feasibility studies and liaison with designers, engineers, safety case specialists, contractors and Regulators as required
  • Manage the delivery of assigned projects, jobs and tasks ensuring that the work is conducted in a safe, timely and effective manner in line with the relevant procedures
  • Lead and support Jacobs Project Managers to successfully deliver their assigned projects
  • Coordinate and integrate the various functional disciplines required to deliver assigned projects
  • Support the definition and development of future programmes of work to be undertaken by PEJ and its suppliers through the various phases of project delivery
  • Significant interface and interaction with client and contractor teams, including the potential deployment to work within the PEJ offices
  • Identifying, implementing, and complying with applicable technical, safety, environmental and quality standards, company procedures and policies and other relevant legislative and regulatory requirements

Here’s What You’ll Need:

  • Typically, degree educated, ideally in engineering, technical, business or a related subject.
  • Minimum 10 years demonstrable experience in a similar role
  • 10 years + experience in nuclear project delivery or nuclear power plant operations is preferred but not essential
  • APMP/PMI/formal project management qualification or equivalent is preferred but not essential.
  • Extensive demonstrable experience managing complex projects in a regulated environment.
  • Well developed leadership and team development skills
  • Excellent English language skills
  • Polish language knowledge will be an advantage
  • Versed in modern project management techniques within complex, multi-functional organisations; have an understanding and knowledge of engineering, design, procurement, safety case, construction and installation/commissioning management and commercial contracting
