Global Category Lead Buyer (Warehouse/ Logistics)
About the Role:
We are seeking an experienced procurement professional to lead sourcing and supplier relationship activities for logistics and warehousing services within a global organisation. This position plays a central role in shaping procurement approaches, enhancing service performance, and collaborating across regions and functions.
Key Responsibilities:
Sourcing Strategy & Analysis
Develop and implement approaches to secure goods and services for warehousing in ways that support efficiency, spending clarity, and control over delivery times and working capital.
Review expenditure data and trends to uncover areas for cost optimisation and support informed commercial decisions.
Supplier Qualification & Tender Execution
Lead transparent supplier selection activities, preparing and managing documentation such as requests for information, quotations, and proposals from initial engagement to contract finalisation in a multi-country environment.
Assess potential vendors through evaluation and qualification procedures, and negotiate terms that support business aims.
Contract & Performance Oversight
Track contractual arrangements and renewal timelines to ensure commitments are upheld, and centrally defined procurement principles are applied across categories.
Foster and strengthen vendor partnerships to support reliable, high-quality service delivery, and hold suppliers to agreed service standards.
Internal Engagement & Cross-Category Collaboration
Maintain active communication with internal business partners to identify further opportunities for value creation.
Coordinate with peers managing other spend areas to align strategic priorities and share insights, collaboratively solving issues affecting cost, timing, and risk.
Governance & Compliance
Uphold internal procurement policies and procedures, and help stakeholders understand and follow procurement standards.
Support continuous refinement of procurement practices and contribute to the broader vision and direction of the procurement organisation.
Portfolio Development & Tools
Contribute to building a robust European-wide supplier base that supports current and future logistics requirements.
Ensure procurement systems and repositories of supplier conditions and contracts remain current and easily accessible to relevant teams.
What we're looking for:
Education & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline such as procurement, supply chain, business administration, engineering, or equivalent education with related professional development.
Several years’ track record in sourcing, purchasing or supplier management — particularly with indirect spend or logistics-related categories.
Strong familiarity with how broader indirect spend categories interconnect and influence procurement decisions.
Skills & Competencies
Proven capability to work autonomously and drive initiatives that establish and enhance category practices.
Excellent command of business English in both written and spoken form; additional languages are beneficial.
Comfort with MS Office applications and the ability to quickly adopt new internal systems.
Readiness to travel occasionally for business engagements.
Sound understanding of tender methodologies and negotiation practices.
