We are looking for an experienced Payroll Team Leader to take ownership of payroll operations in the DACH region. In this role, you will manage end-to-end payroll processes in-house – which gives you full visibility and impact on operational, compliance, and strategic areas.
If you have strong payroll expertise, solid knowledge of German payroll legislation, and proven leadership skills, this is an excellent opportunity to grow in an international environment.
Payroll Team Leader with German
Here are some of the things you can look forward to:
Supervise payroll operations in Germany and Austria – ensuring accurate and timely payments.
Manage payroll systems end-to-end, ensuring compliance with local legislation and conducting regular audits.
Liaise with external institutions such as tax authorities, social security agencies, pension funds, insurance providers, and auditors.
Collaborate closely with HR, Finance, and Global Mobility teams to ensure accurate and complete payroll data.
Oversee benefits processes: registrations, deregistrations, parental leave, sickness/accident benefits, and other statutory entitlements.
Lead, mentor, and support the payroll team, serving as the main escalation point.
Review and approve monthly payroll runs as well as invoices for benefits and social insurances.
Develop and update payroll policies and procedures in line with Group requirements (including SOX compliance).
Provide payroll support for employee onboarding and offboarding, including international assignees.
Qualifications:
Minimum 4 years of payroll experience, including supervisory responsibilities.
Strong knowledge of German payroll legislation and tax compliance.
Proven track record in handling high-volume payroll.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with great attention to detail.
Fluent in German and English.
Hands-on experience with payroll systems (e.g., Oracle, ADP, or similar).
Experience with expatriate payrolls and payroll-related projects will be an asset.
