Senior Data Engineer (banking)

Location: Hybrid - 2 days per week from office in Gdynia, Gdańsk or Warsaw

Summary: This role is for an Expert Data Engineer who will support a highly available application that delivers data to multiple downstream systems, focusing on optimizing data management processes and infrastructure.

Main Responsibilities:

• Design, build, and maintain scalable ELT pipelines.

• Develop and optimize PLSQL queries and database objects for high performance data storage in Oracle.

• Write Python-based data engineering scripts to process data.

• Implement CI/CD pipelines for data infrastructure and workflow automation.

• Manage database change and ensure compliance with governance.

• Work with major cloud vendors and integrate modern data stacks.

• Monitor, debug, and optimize data workflows and infrastructure performance.

• Ensure data quality and governance practices are adhered to.

Key Requirements:

• Proficiency in designing OLAP systems with techniques like STAR schema or denormalization.

• Expertise in Python and PLSQL.

• Experience in ELT/ETL development using GUI-based tools (e.g., IBM Datastage, ADF, Stitch, Matillion).

• Database management knowledge (Oracle, MSSQL, Snowflake).

• Understanding of DevOps practices and CI/CD tools (Git, Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform, Jenkins, Bamboo, Azure DevOps).

• Experience with test automation tools (e.g., Robot, Selenium).

• Familiarity with version control techniques (Git, GitHub, GitLab).

• Knowledge of workflow orchestration (Airflow, Prefect).

• Understanding of streaming and batch processing (Kafka).

Nice to Have:

• Experience with cloud platform services.

• Ability to work in a multi-disciplinary team.

• Familiarity with data governance frameworks.

• Previous experience in a banking or financial services setting.
