The R&P Planning Lead role is about ownership around Material Requirement Planning (MRP), supporting towards E2E planning processes. This includes support for the MRP systems/ interfaces and processes - technical, strategic and operational aspects as well driving transformation agenda towards MRP planning
- Create, implement & maintain tools, processes and procedures to support functional requirements aligned with the business needs and improvement agenda.
- Drive projects implementation and assure all deliverables will be achieved according to defined timing.
- Collaborate with other planning functions and support/create new process design
Scope: E2E Material planning from pre-MRP via Purchase Order till Order to Deliver
The associate in this role provides in-depth application knowledge and understanding, working closely with the Demand, Supply & MRP Planners to ensure a robust demand process. Additionally, this role ensures proper administration and on-going maintenance of MRP Planning Tools security and manages the implementation of enhancements to the systems and interfaces.
Key responsibilities
Understand process needs and required capabilities within MRP process
- Coordinates with wide community to develop new processes. Standardise and rollout the best practices and new initiatives.
- Deliver improvement of system and processes related to MRP planning – assess current and new capabilities and how to fit them to new desired E2E planning model
- Understand interactions with other functions and process gaps to be redesigned, reinforced – to drive implementation of new designed processes cross Regions
- Drive continuous improvement of their own contribution in the E2E MRP planning area
- Drives the MRP roadmap for service and stocks and MRP planning metrics Foods’s network to enable delivery of the operating plan and supply chain strategy based on system data.
Central Communication Point
- Central point of communication to all factories on the constrains of any process/tools - MRP planning related.
- Responsible for resolving any system and process gaps/bugs and providing sustainable solution in place.
- Effective introduction of new tools/systems/processes (or discontinuations) through collaboration with factories planning teams to ensure successful launch (OTIF)
- Ensure that all risks to materials supply (visible or not) are highlighted/discussed and appropriate actions taken in operational plan
Technical Planning Expertise
- Understand details of planning processes and interdependence between Demand/Supply/MRP/Logistics
- Be able to understand key MRP planning operational tasks: Pre-MRP, Planning PO’s, preparing forecast data, PO confirmation and replanning.
- Understand key MRP metrics and reporting structure KPIs (e.g., inventory, demand variability OTIF, Auto PO, No touch PO/PR, Material availability related CSL) at multiple levels and lags
- Ensure all MRP planning master data is maintained to standard
- Undertake Key User responsibilities for SAP planning (team training, team issue resolution, participation or lead for future planning system upgrades)
- Establish and maintain expert business and E2E supply chain understanding and use of the MRP planning processes, systems, interfaces and reporting tools (JDA, SAP, etc.)
- Understand MRP KPIs and take action to support Local and Central team to deliver customer service with optimal costs and cash
- Understand significant trade-off decisions and recommendations to be taken within MRP Panning and regional SCMR within Planning Operational Process. Drive structural improvements within function and beyond if required.
Capabilities Coordination
- Be the first point of contact for the factory MRP planning team in the development and roll-out for new tools, and pro-actively engage the team in case opportunities or needs are identified.
- Recognized as an expert, coach and support the regional MRP Planning teams in case of technical or Supply Chain challenges.
- Work with internal Technical team and Vendor on defining desired technical set up for new tools/system capabilities.
- Lead continuous improvement projects and problem-solving as it relates to MRP planning activities
- Maintain and continuously improve system and process documentation for supported role
Context and scope
- This is a technical expert, individual contributor role, which has a strong problem-solving capability & effective verbal & written communication style.
- Influences factory Planning teams to implement improvements to drive customer service at optimal cost and cash
- Builds collaborative relationships with Supply, Demand Planners & Factories in the regions and the Customer Logistics teams
- Manages conflicts with other functions, connected to different sets of priorities or objectives.
- Technical expertise within MRP Planning being able to generate & act on insights from data or trends or similar situations occurring previously or hypothetical issues, to consider different long-term scenarios & to communicate effectively
