The Group Treasury function supports the business to achieve its strategic objectives, covering >50 entities spanning >25 jurisdictions and operating over 5,000 stores under the Pepco, Poundland, and Dealz brands in addition to the PGS operations in Asia.

 

Group Treasury manages the financial risk of EUR2bn annual FX Exposure, €1bn of External Debt and Funding, a Supply Chain Finance Program of €500m, up to €500m in Cash Balances, €60m in annual Interest Charges, over a thousand bank guarantees, 500 corporate credit cards and over 300 bank accounts through a centralized group team.

 

As Treasury Accountant you will be accountable for performing accounting, reporting and controls activities, acting on behalf of various group business units and Pepco operating entities contributing into a world class treasury function.

 

Your key duties will consist of:

 

  • Providing accounting journals for complex financial instruments to the business units in a timely and accurate manner
  • Creating and maintaining hedge documentation, effectiveness testing and accounting in line with IFRS9
  • Supporting daily and monthly bank reconciliations process
  • Providing assistance, where required, to maintain intercompany loan agreements and related accounting journals
  • Performing treasury controls and supporting the development of a robust control environment
  • Maintain TMS (Treasury Management System) accounting setup (e.g. chart of account and posting rules)
  • Looking for opportunities for efficiency improvements (e.g. through standardizing treasury operations/processes)
  • Providing specific treasury reporting (e.g. bank fees, interests)
  • Train to become a key user of the TMS
  • Supporting the implementation of new treasury processes for other Business Units and other company/group strategic projects and priorities
  • Supporting the implementation of the new ERP and the system’s integration with TMS
  • Achieving team KPIs in line with stakeholders expectations
  • Liaise with auditors during the half year review and year-end audit.
  • Develop effective and productive working relationship with internal (Treasury Front Office, Treasury Back Office Business Units, Group Finance teams, Tax, Legal, Audit) and external stakeholders (Audit)

 

All candidates should comply with the following list of attributes:

 

  • At least 2 years of experience in accounting, preferably in the treasury area
  • Higher education (min. bachelor’s degree)
  • English min. B2 proficiency
  • Basic understanding of treasury and financial market operations, Corporate Treasury experience preferable
  • Continuous improvement seeker, open to new technology available and utilize different AI/automation tools
  • Enthusiastic and motivated, team player
  • Problem solver with good analytical/numerical skills
  • Able to work in dynamic international environment
  • Open and clear communicator
  • Willing to take on additional tasks and responsibility as role develops
