Position Overview:

As a Senior QA Engineer at Playbook Engineering, you will lead and enhance our quality assurance processes, driving improvements in test automation, API testing, and CI/CD integration. You will mentor other team members, define QA standards, and ensure that our products meet the highest quality standards before release. Your role will include test automation, exploratory testing, and collaborating across teams to ensure seamless integration into the product development lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities:

• QA Standards and Best Practices: Define, implement, and advocate for high-quality testing standards, contributing to continuous improvements in testing processes.
• Collaboration: Work closely within delivery teams and with design and support teams to understand project requirements and provide QA expertise.
• Test Documentation: Review business documentation and create detailed test cases and test plans, ensuring coverage for all project requirements.
• User Experience Advisory: Provide insights and recommendations on user experience to optimize the interaction design of web applications.
• Exploratory Testing: Conduct thorough exploratory testing to identify potential issues early and mitigate them before product release.
• Automation Strategy: Implement and enhance test automation frameworks using tools like Playwright or similar.
• API Testing: Ensure robustness of web services and interfaces through comprehensive API testing.
• CI/CD Integration: Utilize and improve CI/CD pipelines to automate testing and deployment, ensuring smooth integration of new code into production environments.
• Microservices Testing: Validate microservices architecture and test it to ensure system resilience and performance under varying conditions.
• Mentoring and Leadership: Mentor and support junior team members, helping them grow their technical skills and improve their QA processes.
• Communication and Organization: Exhibit strong communication skills to effectively interact with internal teams and organize testing schedules, priorities, and responsibilities.
• Independent Work Ethic: Operate independently with limited supervision, showing initiative, leadership, and decision-making in daily tasks.

Qualifications:

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent experience in quality assurance.
• Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in quality assurance, with a focus on automated testing, web technologies, and CI/CD integration.
• Technical Proficiency: Strong expertise in test automation tools such as Playwright, Cypress, or Puppeteer, and experience with CI/CD tools, preferably GitLab.
• API and Microservices Testing: Proven experience in testing APIs and microservices, ensuring system reliability and performance.
• Programming Skills: Proficiency in TypeScript for test scripting.
• Analytical Skills:Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a focus on continuous improvement and identifying potential issues early.
• Collaboration Skills: Excellent communication and collaboration skills, capable of working closely with cross-functional teams.
• Independent and Organized: Ability to work independently, make decisions, and manage tasks efficiently.

Desirable Skills:

• Experience in load/performance testing, preferably using k6 or other tools like JMeter.
• Experience in creating automated tests for mobile applications using Appium.
