About Us
We are Rough Guides Digital, a spin-off of Rough Guides Publishing - a legend in the travel industry. We’re a fast-growing travel marketplace connecting travelers with verified local travel experts, with the ambition to bring new meaning to authentic, personalized travel.
The Role
We are seeking a Content Marketing Specialist to join our ambitious team. In this role, you will be responsible for the creation, maintenance, and distribution of high-quality, English-language travel content across our platform. This is a hands-on role for a passionate content expert who enjoys writing, editing, and working directly with content systems, and who cares deeply about creating high-performing content that drives results. If you’re excited about writing content that influences travellers around the world and helps bring new customers to the platform, and you're looking for an opportunity to quickly take on new responsibilities and advance your career, keep reading.
Key Responsibilities
Write new SEO- and GEO-efficient travel content in English, based on provided briefs or independently when no brief is available.
Update and improve existing content with new text, sections, and refinements.
Implement all content changes directly in the CMS, including formatting and basic HTML edits when needed.
Create written content for weekly newsletters (email) and social media posts that attract and engage new leads
Support large-scale content updates using AI tools and internal workflows.
Take ownership of content accuracy and consistency, ensuring all changes are properly implemented across the site.
Work closely with the SEO & Content Lead to execute content initiatives, while proactively contributing ideas and challenging the status quo where improvements are possible.
Requirements
Strong written English skills (C1+), with the ability to write and edit clear, engaging content.
Experience working with a CMS and confidence publishing and updating live content.
Ability to follow content briefs, style guidelines, and structured workflows with attention to detail and a high standard for accuracy.
Basic understanding of SEO/GEO fundamentals and how content structure affects visibility.
Comfort using AI tools (e.g. ChatGPT or similar) to support writing, editing, and content updates.
Ability to manage multiple content tasks and meet deadlines.
Proven ability to write and structure engaging newsletters, using performance metrics and basic A/B testing to improve results.
Nice to have: experience working with an email tool (e.g., HubSpot, Mailchimp) and using UTM tracking.
Why Join Us?
This is a hands-on content role where your work goes live quickly and has a direct impact on travellers around the world. You’ll join a small, focused team, which means high ownership, real responsibility, and plenty of space to grow as the company grows.
