Finance Operations Lead
Position Overview:
TechTorch is seeking a hands-on, detail-oriented Financial Operations Lead to take full ownership of the financial foundation of our fast-growing, AI-powered enterprise technology services company. This role starts with execution: you'll own financial operations end-to-end- invoicing, accounts receivable, contractor payments, month-end close, and cash flow forecasting -ensuring accuracy, tight controls, and reliable systems across our US-led business with growing global footprint serving PE portfolio companies.
You'll inherit imperfect systems and processes and are expected to run and improve them so we stop dealing with the same problems month after month. As the financial foundation becomes reliable, the role naturally expands into profitability analysis, forecasting, and strategic decision support—not just producing numbers, but driving insights and recommendations that guide how the business executes. Throughout this journey, you'll actively use and experiment with AI-enabled tools to automate workflows, improve accuracy, and increase your leverage. This is a role for someone who takes real pride in clean books, strong controls, and systems that simply work—and who is excited to grow from operational ownership into a trusted financial partner as the company scales.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Operations & Bookkeeping Own day-to-day bookkeeping and financial records across global entities, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and timeliness. Maintain reconciled accounts including bank, AR, AP, payroll, and contractors, with proper accruals and deferrals. Ensure accounting records are clean, reliable, and transparent to leadership. Select, coordinate, and manage external accounting and payroll partners across multiple geographies, ensuring high-quality output, clear ownership, and scalable processes as our international footprint grows. Research international policy and regulations and recommend path forward as we expand the business.
Accounts Receivable & Accounts Payable Own the end-to-end client invoicing process, including timely collections and dispute resolution. Manage payroll, contractor, and vendor payment workflows from start to finish. Ensure time tracking systems are fully leveraged to support accurate, low-friction invoicing and eliminate over- or under-payments to contractors and vendors. Identify and implement automation and process improvements to reduce manual effort and free up capacity for higher-value work.
Month-End Close & Reporting Own the month-end close process with a goal of delivering profitability and performance reporting within 48 hours of period close. Build and maintain operational financial reporting, primarily in Excel and connected tools, that provides clear visibility into business performance. Ensure consistency and accuracy across entities, including international structures, so leadership always has a consolidated view of financial health.
Cash Flow & Financial Planning Support Build and maintain a reliable, continuously updated cash flow forecast that enables proactive liquidity management. Monitor cash position and support funding trade-off decisions with data and analysis. Support the maintenance of annual financial plans and budgets in partnership with leadership, translating strategic goals into actionable financial targets.
Strategic Decision Support & Continuous Improvement Run ad hoc and recurring financial analysis to support leadership decisions around profitability, cost drivers, resourcing, and growth investments. Over time, help shape the right analysis and reporting—surfacing insights and recommendations that drive better business outcomes. Proactively identify and implement automation opportunities using AI and modern tools to eliminate repetitive work, reduce error risk, and increase the speed and quality of financial operations.
Qualifications:
Experience:
5+ years running finance, accounting, and bookkeeping operations, ideally in a startup or client-services environment
Proven track record owning or improving operational finance processes including invoicing, AR, payables, and month-end close
Experience managing external vendors such as accountants, payroll providers, and tax advisors
Familiarity with international entity structures, transactions, and cross-border accounting strongly preferred
Consulting or professional services background valued for understanding project-based revenue and resource models
Technical Skills:
Strong fundamentals in accounting and double-entry bookkeeping principles
Advanced Excel skills with ability to build and maintain financial models and operational reports
Eager to explore, test, and adopt AI-driven tools and workflows, with a track record (or clear mindset) of using technology to materially improve finance processes
Experience with modern accounting systems and automation tools for finance operations
Core Competencies:
Extremely detail-oriented and diligent, taking pride in getting it right the first time
Self-starter who doesn't accept a bad status quo and is willing to grind through messy systems while systematically fixing them
High ownership mentality with ability to execute independently and drive solutions rather than just identifying problems
Can tolerate messiness and ambiguity in a fast-growing environment while taking concrete steps to make it better
Strong communication skills to partner with leadership, external vendors, and cross-functional teams
Comfort with building systems that scale thoughtfully without over-engineering too early
This Role Is For Someone Who:
Loves details and takes pride in clean, accurate financials
Is not afraid to roll up their sleeves and execute hands-on work
Can tolerate messiness and ambiguity while taking steps to make it better
Enjoys building systems that scale in a fast-growing, global company
Wants to grow into a key finance leadership role alongside an ambitious team
Views AI as a practical tool to increase leverage and operational excellence

Is looking for a finance strategy role—execution and operational excellence come first

Wants to manage a team or relies on others to get core work done
Enjoys talking about problems rather than personally driving solutions
