Role Overview


Effective risk management is considered pivotal to Planet and we are seeking a Financial Crime Manager to support the continued development of our payments business.


The successful individual will support the business by managing the performance of the first line financial crime team, to ensure adherence to Planet’s fraud monitoring policies and processes, covering all parts of the payments and tax-free businesses.


The Financial Crime Manager will be expected to engage across the business, building relationships with key internal stakeholders and provide assurance that financial crime is being effectively managed throughout Planet’s acquiring operations.


What you will do


  • Actively participate in the calibration of the transaction monitoring tool
  • Test and enforce the parameters and/or updates of the transaction monitoring tool
  • Ensure of the effectiveness of the reporting tools by conducting adequate quality controls
  • Manage the day-to-day operations of the financial crime team, both the people and the processes
  • Ensure all financial crime analysts are properly trained and resourced to perform their roles effectively
  • Act as the point of escalation for the financial crime analysts, to provide guidance and support with complex cases
  • Monitor the performance of the financial crime system and provide feedback on improvements to the second line Systems team
  • Ensure all regulatory and Scheme mandated actions are completed in a timely manner, such as raising and escalating SARs, adding merchants to Scheme watch lists etc.
  • Lead the development of appropriate financial crime review processes, in conjunction with the second line teams
  • Monitor the performance of the financial crime analysts, ensuring they investigate all potential financial crime events accurately and within agreed timeframes
  • Act as the main liaison point with the rest of the business for queries and feedback
  • Provide regular reporting to senior leadership on the performance of both the financial crime analysts and performance against SLAs and KPIs
  • Work closely with peers to mould a high achieving, well controlled organisation which can achieve targets safely;
  • Support the development and implementation of a risk management strategy in support of the Group’s strategy;
  • Do your part to ensure that all activities comply with relevant legislation and regulation.

Who you are


  • 5-7 years financial crime experience, with at least 3 years as a supervisor, team leader or manager
  • 4-6 years of experience in Financial Services or Payments companies
  • Ability to analyse documentation from different countries, to identify suspicious items
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to make real-time, informed decisions
  • Excellent time management and organizational ability
  • Ability to multitask and meet constant deadlines
  • Hands-on experience with statistical analysis and statistical packages
  • Outstanding presentation, reporting and communication skills
  • ACAMS or CFE certified (or similar) – Advantage
